Where our numbers come from

The numbers on our home page are counts, not marketing. We read them directly from companies' hiring systems. A role counts only while it's live on the employer's own job board. And the home page rounds every number down, never up. Below are this week's exact counts, how we get them, examples you can open and check yourself, and how many companies on well-known lists and investor portfolios are hiring. The counts are rebuilt every week.

We read roles directly from companies' hiring systems (the software their careers pages run on), on a regular schedule.

A role counts as open while it's live on the employer's own job board.

"New" means we first saw the role on the employer's own job board in the 7 days to 19 October 2026.

The home page shows these counts rounded down.

A company counts if it has at least one open role on its own job board.

We label a company "tech" when we add it (or, for older companies, in a one-time pass in July 2026), by a fixed rule, not by hand or AI. Of its open roles whose titles clearly read as tech or non-tech, at least half must be tech roles (engineering, data, product, IT and similar), and there must be at least three such roles. Ambiguous titles don't count either way. The label isn't recomputed every week. Before a role appears here, we also check its company by hand; any company that isn't clearly a tech company is replaced with another random pick.

Forbes lists we check against

87 of the 100 companies on the Forbes Cloud 100 (2025 edition) and 47 of the 50 on the Forbes AI 50 (2026 edition) had at least one open role on their own job board as of 16 October 2026. Each name links to that company's careers page.

A company counts if it has at least one open role on its own job board that we read. Names were matched to the lists and checked by hand. No 2026 Forbes Cloud 100 had been published as of 16 October 2026.

Investor portfolios we check against

For each of these investors, the number of companies in its public portfolio that had at least one open role on their own job board as of 16 October 2026.

Portfolios are taken from each investor's public portfolio list and matched to the company boards we read.

Investor names are used only to describe which portfolios we checked. Funded Drop is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
